Bar Pazzo & The Ritz Presents: Love, Charlie (Film & Tasting)

9/12 @5:30PM

Bar Pazzo, located in Downtown Scranton, with the assistance of the beautiful and historic Ritz Theater, has teamed up to bring Oak Street Pictures’ “Love, Charlie: The Rise and Fall of Chef Charlie Trotter” to the area on September 12, 2022.

Guests will arrive at a “red carpet” entry with photography by 1120 Creative. The documentary will screen promptly following complimentary wine from Magnotta Imports, soft drinks, and small plates that are inspired by Trotter’s working session cookbooks. Chef John Tabone of Bar Pazzo will be creating these wonderful dishes along with culinary consultant Guy Zehner, which will hopefully give a full representation of Trotter’s talent and passion. These plates coupled with the documentary will bring you as close to Trotter as one can get. For one memorable evening, you can witness his passion, flavors, and madness right in Scranton, Pa.

You’ll also get your chance to meet Renee Frigo, the founder, and owner of Oak Street Pictures.

Tickets for the dinner and movie or just the movie will be available along with Senior Citizen and Student discount options.

Charlie Trotter is Chef Tabone’s most inspirational culinary idol. He’s utilized not only his techniques in the kitchen but also Trotter’s business sense and compassion for the industry and employees. This is a project near and dear to Chef Tabone and this will be a great experience for anyone in the culinary field.

Proceeds of the evening will go to Restaurant After Hours, a 501c3 charitable organization providing mental health support for the hospitality industry.

The 96-minute documentary has never-before-seen archival material and interviews with those that loved (and even loathed) Chef Trotter – who died of a stroke in 2013 at the age of 54. “Love, Charlie” shows all sides of Chef Trotter and the highs and lows of his unfortunately short perfection-pursuing career.

This inside look at Chef Trotter’s success, and also demons, is an Official Selection of the Florida Film Festival, The Chicago International Film Festival “Best of the Best”, and an Official Selection of SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival). Richard Roeper of Chicago Sun-Times said the film is “One of the best documentaries of the year.”
